The WHIP (PAD125-3) is a 125cc pit bike built for closed-course and off-road riding. Manual 4-speed transmission, hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, and a seamless tubing frame put it above entry-level pit bikes that ship with drum brakes and welded frame joints. The 17-inch front wheel and 14-inch rear wheel give it the classic pit bike stance: small enough to handle in tight pit lanes and on technical trails, big enough to clear standard trail bumps without stalling out.
Three reasons riders pick the WHIP:
Real shifting practice. The 4-speed manual gearbox teaches the same clutch and shift technique you'd use on a full-size dirt bike or street motorcycle. Riders moving up from automatic dirt bikes use it as a stepping stone before they buy something bigger.
Quality suspension and brakes for the class. Anodized hydraulic front fork and hydraulic disc brakes on both wheels are normally found on more expensive bikes. The WHIP brings them down into the entry-level pit bike price range.
Customization platform. Pit bikes have a huge aftermarket. Exhausts, bars, plastics, seats, sprockets, and fenders made for the standard 125cc pit bike chassis fit the WHIP.
Who it fits
Riders learning manual transmission before stepping up to a bigger dirt bike. Track-day pit support riders who need a small bike for paddock duty. Trail riders who want a compact bike for tight wooded trails. Parents getting older kids or teens on a real geared dirt bike with disc brakes. Hobby builders who want a starting platform for a custom pit bike build.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the WHIP street legal?
No. The WHIP is off-road only. It is not equipped or homologated for street use. Ride it on private property, closed courses, dirt trails, or permitted off-road riding areas. Check your local rules before you ride.
What kind of gas does it take?
Regular 87-octane unleaded pump gas.
Does it have an automatic or manual transmission?
Manual. The WHIP has a 4-speed manual gearbox with a hand clutch. You shift gears yourself.
Can a beginner ride it?
A beginner can learn on the WHIP if they're patient with the manual transmission. Riders who have never used a clutch should expect a learning curve. Automatic dirt bikes are easier for first-time riders.
What's the top speed?
Top speed depends on rider weight, terrain, and gearing. Most 125cc pit bikes in this class run roughly 35 to 50 mph in top gear on flat ground. Off-road, you'll typically be using lower gears.
How tall is it?
Pit bikes in this size class typically have a seat height around 30 to 32 inches, suited for riders roughly 5 feet to 5 feet 10. Confirm the exact seat height on the spec table before buying for someone outside that range.
Does it come fully assembled?
The WHIP ships in a crate roughly 85% assembled. Final setup includes handlebars, fluid fills, and a pre-delivery inspection. Most authorized dealers handle setup for you. If you buy direct, plan on 2 to 3 hours of assembly.
Can I customize it?
Yes. The WHIP uses standard 125cc pit bike sizing for most components. Aftermarket exhausts, plastics, sprockets, handlebars, grips, and seats made for the standard pit bike chassis generally fit.
What's the difference between the WHIP and the Roost?
The WHIP and the Roost are both 125cc off-road bikes in our IBX Offroad lineup. They use different chassis layouts and target slightly different riders. Compare the spec tables on each page for the differences in suspension, brakes, wheel sizes, and styling.
Where do I get service or replacement parts?
Visit our Parts page or contact an authorized Icebear dealer in your area. We publish service manuals on the Service Manuals page of this website.
Will my bike look exactly like the photos?
Some parts may vary slightly from the photos depending on production batch. The engine, frame, and core specs stay the same.
